How I Found Out That I Had Candida – My Story

My Name is Jerry. I'm a father to three wonderful children and a husband to a beautiful wife.

One year ago today, I went through some severe health problems.

I had bloating and distention, I was always feeling sick and tired, depression, nerve pain, headaches and so much more.

I tried everything to get better. I tried chiropractors, searched the internet and went through every product that you could imagine. I tired CT scans, MRIs and parasite cleanses.

The Cure For Candida

After no success and thousands of dollars spent, I finally took a natural approach.

My friend recommended that I go visit a naturopath, and so with no other alternatives, I decided to give it a try.

The naturopath gave me a simple blood test and discovered that I had leaky gut and candida or a yeast overgroweth. My body was full of these foreign invaders; in fact, the yeast had completely taken control of my body.

I want to note that I had most of the irritable bowel symptoms. Could it be that many times diagnosed IBS is just candida?

Just a thought.

What is Candida?

A fungus is a microscopic organism that typically lives harmlessly in all of us. If the immune system is weakened or if the fungus becomes out of balance because of antibiotics then an infection can occur.

This infection is called a yeast infection or Candida.

Candida reproduces asexually and grows by feeding on the byproducts within your gut: food sugars and skin tissue.

Unless the environment of candida is altered and the food that it enjoys taken away, candida can conquer the entire body and cause severe symptoms.

The symptoms of candida include: bloating, digestive issues, headaches and emotional problems such as depression. There are so many problems that candida causes that's it's almost impossible to list them all.

You may be living with candida

More symptoms include:

  1. Constant fatigue
  2. Brain fog
  3. Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  4. Recurring yeast infections
  5. Oral thrush
  6. Sinus infections
  7. Food allergies/intolerances
  8. Fungal infections on the skin and nails
  9. A weak immune system
  10. Joint pain
  11. Depression or a low mood

A Simple Test

Here is a simple way to test to see if you have candida. This is called the spit test - spit in a glass of water and see what happens to your saliva.

The Saliva Test for Candida

If your saliva reacts in the ways diagramed above, then you could have candida. So, you need to continue to read and listen to what I have to say.

Did you know that scientists predict that 70% of our society - both men and woman - are dealing with candida?

This is my Fight.

This web site is my  commitment to getting better from this horrific fungus. I'm going to post information that I find and give you ways that I have found success.

Welcome to my fight with Candida.

  1. It’s always good to hear about direct experiences with overcoming illness. Candida is no joke and can affect everything from mood to digestion to mental clarity, as you point out. It’s impressive that you had the discipline to go on the no-candida diet…I think that’s where most people get stumped. thanks for telling your entire story and recommending some products that helped along the way!

    1. Thanks for the comments. The candida diet can be a challenge, but you need to just take it one step at a time. No one is going to be perfect, but if you work at cutting out the sweets it’s a great start. You can’t let the diet discourage you. The reward is far greater than the sacrifice.

  2. I found your article while searching the internet for this condition which my sister suffers from. I know that many doctors don’t consider “leaky gut” as a “real” condition but I’m gathering it’s a relatively new ailment. It’s great to that you got your candida under control after only a year but she’s going on two years of living with this. She’s cut out everything from her diet you suggest here and it gets better for a time and then comes back. Is this common or was she possibly misdiagnosed?

    1. My suggestion is that she probably needs to figure out what is the cause of her candida. Maybe stress is causing the candida to flare up. I was on antibiotics for a while so that was the cause of my candida.  After I brought my candida under control, I never had a problem. She needs to find out what’s causing the candida and deal with that as well.
